othickman 6
I've been looking at stock making for a fair while, and I've decided it'll be my winter project. I've got all the tools I need to shape it and can buy some wire wool and oils for the finish, But I have absolutely no idea whatsoever on how to cut out the space for the action and anyway I don't have the tools to do it, so I was wondering if anyone who made stock blanks relatively cheaply (out of cheap material) also could do that? Oh, and if I'm persuaded to attempt it myself, or get someone nearby to do it, I don't know of any woodsmiths (if thats what they're called ) but I'm sure I could find one in the surrounding area, what wood would be suitable that isn't stupidly expensive, and I'm not too keep on that layered type. Thanks for any help whatsoever; google is not proving useful. Quote Link to post
