Straightline 0
Last week took all three of my lurchers and pat down to tredegar house to let them have a run and chase a few bunnies if the terrier pushed them out. In walking in there when the brindle bitch saw something the other side of a wooden fence and jumped and gave chase. The dog then followed her, catching his leg as he went over. He yelped and carried on chasing and howling until the bitch could be seen to pull up so he did, howling his head off. Took a look at his leg and could see it swelling, though in flexing the joint he didnt seem in to much pain, so put it down to a bad knock. Put him on the lead and went back to the car. Next day its up like a ballon and he's down to the vet. After an x-ray and assorted tablets, I was told he's got a broken foot. Its a clean break, outside digit, between what would be our wrist and knuckle. Going to find out tomorrow whether hes going into a cast for a few weeks or whether they're going to pin it. Either way whatevers best for him, with the speediest recovery. Lucky hes insured as bill is up to £220 so far and I only pay first £50. Just a bit gutting being so close to the start of the season. He was too young to start properly last season, though he went out once and caught his first bunny. Now I'm going to have to wait until he gets his next chance and he looked promising, albeit untried. At least I have the brindle bitch who will be into her second season and is coming nice and fit. Hope she stays that way!! Heres him before the break 5 months ago. Quote Link to post

john horgan 0
thats nasty alright.. if you have your dog insured do you have to have him licencesed aswell.. and if you made a claim would you not be investigated about animal cruelty if it was for example a fox that did the damage.. No hes not licensed and thats not a requirement by the insurance. At least I cant find anything relating to that and they certainly don't ask it when you register them. Think claiming for fox bites may be pushing it, though thats a guess i Havent looked that far into it. I would tend to staple the dog myself for that if it happened and get a jab from one of the boys. Quote Link to post
