mally 832
Please don't think i'm knocking the dog in anyway,My original whippet was bred by mike brown and was a fantastic working dog with the heart of a lion. What makes me a little suspicious on the black dog being a true ped is the head on the dog and the length of back and the whole shape of him. My bitch was also a very strong whippet and i had my suspicians about her too, she stood at 21" and ran at 35lb. I've seen alot of Mikes dogs and tbh it does depend on the which dogs there out of to what type of whippet pup your going to get as IMO they don't throw to type. I had a blue bitch bred by Mike and she was 181/2" and 25lb i saw 2 of her litter brothers and they were 221/2" and 38lb and 23" and 40lb respectively!!!! you would have never dreamed they were out of the same litter. There's not doubt that Mike breeds good whippets that in the right hands make cracking working dogs, there just a little on the large side for me. Some of which would pass as whippet x greyhounds with there size and conformation.... I am all for using new blood in my dogs as my old bitch was actaully line bred, Mike put mother to son to produce my old bitch, so i used a totally unrelated show dog of the correctr size to produce my present bitch Vixen. I'm more than happy with the results as all the pups threw to type and look like peas in a pod. I like a whippet to be around 20" and 30lb with nice wide shoulders and a nice deep chest... At the end of the day if your happy with your dog and it does what you want it to do thats all that matters... Quote Link to post
