Women showing dogs in working terrier shows!

Recommended Posts

im always at shows as i show ferrets. i watch the terrier shows and it seems to me that everyone in the ring is just doing it for abit of fun. but there is always ONE that takes it all serious. i was watchin the child handler class at one of the shows this year and one of the parents came into the ring and put her childs dog at the propper stance! i was just thinkin..... what a party pooper. thats what discourages the other kids.

I know it is contraversal and I am no woman hater, in fact I would'nt shag anything else.

But in the dog world, women have a very large influence on show dogs and so can carry more than than there fair share of the blame for f**k.ing up many useful breeds.

I think if they get hold of working types they will baby them, breed them for looks only and drag them down to the the level of already ruined breeds.

I see this ad in Countrymans this week -

Nine Beautiful Black and White Pointer Puppies

Well Marked - Seven Girls , Two Boys

KC Registered. Solid, Chunky Little People

????

What a load of pathetic anthropomorphic rubbish and I would bet £100 that it was a woman advertising!

How should the advert have read then ?

Surely you jest? Most of the show ponies at terrier and lurcher shows are men, go to Crufts and see the proportion of male handlers.............

Kay, I think its the "fluffy" girls, boys and little people crap. Could just as easily have been written by a man though............We also come out with some right shite...........

Well to be honest i am of the opinion that if a litters any good it needs no advertising anyway as the breeders already got homes lined up before the mating , but that would be responsible

i do agree that animals in general shouldnt be treated as substitute kids & i also hate the term ''fur kids'' and other vomit inducing names that ferrets get labeled with , but i am of the opinion that the adverts geered to the pet market , so its pointless trying to sell to someone who is planning on working one of the pointer pups , there are people who out there who think its cruel to allow a dog to work for a living , of to allow it to do the job it was origonaly bred for

but i dont think adverts like the one you highlighted are exclucivly down to women

Most good litters are gone before they are born but unfortunately thats not always the case if you merely want to continue the line. Its is also the owner/breeders responsibility to ensure the pups go to reliable homes IMO. I do agree that that advert could be written by either sex though................

Well you may be right Kay, just never heard one talk that way.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about the content of the advert , its quite sickly & fluffy & no matter how beautifull the breeder describes them as will not contribute towards there ability in the field

In all fairness i could advertise a litter of pups from these dogs here , the male caught 1 rabbit got it to me live , surely that means he is 100% on rabbits  , people claim allsorts to shift pups if theres a few bob to be made
