After being away from the show circuit for a few years, this year i decided to go to a few and i couldn't believe my eyes, there were more women showing supposingly working terriers then men! Also i have never seen red dogs look so red and after looking at some of the judges hands it was obvious that they was coloured up. I thought i was at cruffs. Also some of the judging i have seen has bin scandaless undershot bent legged little things winning shows! I was also at the yorshire show for the first time in 6 years and i saw a blank an tan win a crossbred class now surely that dog belongs in B/T lakeland class!! I think me and showing will not be happning again.

Would it have made a difference if a fella had been in the ring with each dog ?

Yes it would of made a difference because a bloke wouldnt be showing a pet coloured up dog he would be showing a smart working type dog with natural colour.

Explain coloured up ?

Red chalk or die or spray or pot ash does that answer your question! (hairspray will be used next)

I have heard thats good wat asians dye their beards with :icon_eek:

:clapper: :clapper: Oh delicious!! Another freak to add to the eejit collection!!

Silly boy, there's nothing to be scared of!!! ;) Half the population are women you know. We do all sorts of things that men do, wear trousers, vote, drive motor cars, andd some of us have an interest in working dogs!! Some of us dig to terriers, and some of us have fellas that do, and if we all go for a little jolly up to suppot a local show, sometimes our fellas let us hold the lead!!!! :icon_redface::o I know it's a bit risque...I can imagine the horror it must incur...but still....live dangerously eh??

Oh.....and I think you'll find the little whine about ponced up pets in the show ring, is a just as much a fault of some men as it is of some women. It doesn't matter whether it's pig jawed, bandy legged or the size of a small town - by entering a dog in a class you are asking for someone else's opinion, and they will pick what they like best...

my uncle judged the cross bred class in yorkshire this year. I remember the dog it had reserve best in show, remember the owner more though. SHE was a corker. Would rather see her than a middle aged bald bloke walking the ring.

W.E.S.I.E., I see where you are coming from, there are plenty of women showing obviousley showy dogs BUT there are enough blokes doing the same thing!!

With a user name as yours I'll bet you never put a dog in a ring but get on here and moan because you didn't see any grafted stuff at a working dog show? If thats the case then do sommat about it, instead of whinging on here, as the only way to see working terriers in a working terrier show is for folk who do work 'em to put 'em in!!!!

Too many condem working dog shows as full of posers and they are BUT it'll never change untill people get rid of either the macho bullshit or the anti paronoia and exibit workers.

As far as i'm concerned I don't give a flying feck who or what is at one end of a lead as long as at the other is a game and well worked tyke that gives me the pleasure of knowing is still being kept and cherished in this fair isle!!!

;)

w.e.s.i.e i agree that there are pet dogs being shown in a working dog shows but i disagree that its just women, there are also some people who take shows WAY too seriously and to be frank i rekon your one of them! the shows are a social thing by all means enter your dog and be proud when your placed but don't start bitching because you lost and i would certainly not recommend making statements on here like you have done already all because your dog was beaten by a bow legged, chalk covered terrier shown by a woman!! loosen up, enjoy the shows for the social gatherings there meant to be and leave it at that
