ellir0305 9
i have finished the main structure and cladding of my dog run now and only have to do some final flashing/sealing to make the whole structure watertight and add the guttering tomorrow but ironically i was rained off today after battling through to finish the roof. now i have to finish the internal and bed area. so i was wondering what other people do for this part. atm it is a fully open space with mesh on two thirds of the front and wooden cladding on both end and a third of the front. so in the cladded third i am putting in a shelf at 20" of the floor to get it away from the cold air at the floor , this shelf i 3'x4' in size and where the be area will be my idea is to have a box this size made of plywood with double layers filled in the middle with polystyrene board. i was wondering what other people do as i have never done this before thanks rob Quote Link to post

sweep 0
I have a 7.5ftx4.5ft run and i have based the sleeping conpartment of the kennel on half a pallot. It has a removable lid. Inside he sleeps in a plastic bed with a fleece blanket and an old towel. He is nearly 9 weeks old now and up to now sleeps well. (touching wood). I have been told that if they get cold they will grow a thicker coat..... Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
not sure what type of dog you have mate but i would only advise you to make it so that the draft can't get to him. hard to explain, if the door opening is on the right hand side, leave enough space for him to get in and block off 3/4 from right to left with a cieling high board ( quasi a zig zag entrance) this will reduce air movment/draft and enable him to raise the air temp in the hut. a bit of straw/other bedding and he will be insulated from the bottom too. is it just one dog? in winter another will keep him warmer ( i use this excuse as often as possible, will be moving soon so don't tell my mrs!!!)
