novice ratting

alright folks, a young fella i've been airgunning with has asked me to come ratting with him and it'd be the first time i've taken a dog with me(my own jack russell whos only 18 months old) and i need any tips or advice that you can think of! particularly as to the welfare of the pup re injuries, obviously i know about lepto but what else should i be aware of? all help very gratefully recieved and apologies if this sounds a bit dumb but i don't know any terrier men around west sussex so this is the only way i can ask...

we use salted water to clean wounds out, good luck mate. happy hunting

wash the dog down when you come back. Before you go, buy some hydrogen peroxide (dont get the super strength hair dye kind though. go for the diluted one!!!) from the chemist and when you get back from ratting with the dog put some in a syringe and squirt it on to any cuts. it will fizz and foam which will clean out the cuts. Once it has foamed give it a rub down with a damp towel to get rid of the dirt.

 

Make sure its up to date with its jabs as well.
