Effing Teenagers

Guess who just spent Saturday night in the Police Station. My teenage son decided he would break into a lockup and take some tools. :realmad:

I don't know where I'm going wrong with him, I have tried everything. Buying him the designer clothes, mobile phones, mountain bikes, DVD players, MP3 players you name it. I've tried talking to him, bribing him, tried grounding him, even leathered him a couple of times - nothing works.

To cap it all he doesnt give a toss that he's on bail, smirked and shrugged all the way through the interviews, and hasn't got an inch of remorse.

It's not the first brush with the law he has had. I'm no angel myself I've spent the night in a few cells in a few places but that was as a pissed up squaddie :icon_redface: getting into brawls and the like - never for anything like burglary and deffo not at 14.

My other two kids are a dream no problem whatsoever, and they've all been brought up the same.

Sorry to have a ramble on here but i'm pissing in the wind talking to my son and the wifes about on the edge of a nervous breakdown so you guys'l have to do :(

Sorry to hear your troubles mate, but personally, if mine had sat there smirking and shrugging, and not giving a toss, i would beat beat the living daylights out of him.I remember doing something or other as a teenager, it wasnt anything like nicking, but my fatha didnt like it, and gave me a proper beating [ he is an ex boxer] I never did owt again, and rapidly learnt some respect.

I'm sorely tempted I can tell yah, but the missus wouldn't allow it just yet all that maternal instinct, me and her are arguing over it sometimes.

im 14 and i do say 2 my dad would u rather take me lamping thann me be on the streets taking drugs and steling cars ext and he say lampin every time dg luck with ur son mate

I've took him out a few times, but hed rather be out pissing about with his mates - he only goes cos it means he can be out past midnight sometimes rather that he actually enjoys doing it.

I'm with Baldie on this one. " Wait till your Father gets home! " were the most heart stopping words my mother ever uttered to us kids. Not that Dad 'abused' us. No way. But we knew we'd get our legs slapped.

And, if you think leg slapping's something better suited to little children? You're damn right. He never had to do more because we simply learned some f***ing respect and manners long before we were old enough to need any more.

I have Never smirked in the face of authority. Never.

dont batter him it will make neither of you feel any better. sounds like he,s hanging round with the wrong crowd. all i can suggest is to try and get him a decent partime job and hope he finds a nice girlfriend before he getts deeper in the shit.try taking him fishing or football or spending some time with him... good luck.

I was brought up with a dad who didn't mince words, just gave you a crack - and from a very early age I had respect for him and authority in general and I never pushed the boundaries.

Which is why it is so hard for me to understand my son he just pushes and pushes and wont admit he is ever wrong or should apologize.

I know he's been mixing with a couple of idiots but he can be quite bright when he wants to be.

I've had family and friends say I should beat the shit out of him - but theres always the chance I could go too far :(
