Guest Ditch_Shitter
Check out the Real Tree cammo tape, on the Bay, mate I may go with that, for this 'special' job I've landed. But I'm taking on board some of the above suggestions, for my own, private projects. Love the handle, by the way!
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Just brought home a tin of " Bulls Eye 1.2.3 ". :Sticks to all surfaces without sanding. Use with any top coat". Painting buckets tonight - rather than internet Reports later.
Guest Ditch_Shitter
I'd been looking at using Real Tree cammo sticky tape, mate. But that would have worked out costing an absolute fortune. Two reels per bucket! As it is, I have half a dozen white buckets in my kitchen right now. I'll go slap on the cammo base colour in a minute
Ricky-N.p.p 0
you done yet ?? :11:
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Doing, Ricky. Doing Actually, that primer holds it quite well. I'm now busy overlaying it with vinyl silk emulsions. I've done my share of cammo jobs before so have a clue what I'm up to, though that was some years ago. I need some more paints though as my old stock's either nearly used up or else completely dried up! Sorth that out when I next go into town. I have the colours custom blended, of course. Round here, " Juncas Green " and " Dead Juncas 'Brown' " will be the final colours of choice.
johnskevena 0
I have two rolls of the Realtree camo tape knocking around here Ditchshitter and you are welcome to them if u want to see how they work on one of your buckets. Pm me your address if you want them and i will stick them in the post for you
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Hullo, John. Sorry, mate. Wasn't ignoring ye. Just got a lot on my plate just now and needed to consider. Thanks very much for the kind and generous, mate. But the fact is, I've painted the ones I have and whilst it's undoubtedly not as good as the tape, it's f***ishly cheaper! I priced up even the 'cheap as chips' stuff, on the Bay. Still worked out it'd cost me an arm and a leg to cover X buckets of Y size. I mean, we are talking stupid money. So, I don't want to torture myself. If I got hold of a couple of reels. Did a bucket or two. I'd never again be content or satisfied with any of my others. I'd favour the gold plated ones so much, it'd cripple my freedom, if ye see what I mean. Anyway, much of what I talk about on here is just for the craic. I hope to inspire others and provoke thought. I'm always thinking and trying out things. I'm already starting to break away from " Buckets ", per se. Looking more into " Blind Sets " ~ as I think they're called? ~ now. Just dig a hole in a natural bank and call that a 'Bucket'. Don't have to carry it with ye. Never run out of them. Don't cost jack to cammo Thought; Isn't it?
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Thanks for that, Jake Only I know where ye get those - the Bay. Carp Fishermans kit. Cost the sort of price 'specialists' expect to pay too! Anyway, truth to tell, the assignment I wanted the buckets for has gone tits up on me. An abysmal failure I've jacked in with that whole idea now. Today though I set too and have made myself a whole load of 'Coni Stands'. I'm now into a new groove and shall be trying just the traps, set out on the runs. (Suitably covered, as required by law and ethic, of course!) At least my traps have now been exposed to the elements enough to have taken on some lovely rusting. Complimenting my own cammo paint jobs brilliantly! They do look the business now! Look even better with the right thing stone dead between their bloody arms, mind! We'll see ..... Or, rather, I will!

Kye 77
Hi Mate,.. I wouldnt bother with the buckets, the 'blind sets' work just as good, if not BETTER...of course, i have used them in conjuction with Duke leg holds etc for fox and other critters in the desert...never failed, and when i run my trap line this season, they will all be blind setts mate...give them a go! Kye,..
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Kye; Gerald Schmitt has convinced me about Blind / Pocket sets for mink, mate. Just as I was told by a certain well known British Trapper, Schmitt too advocates the more slap, bang, whallop approach. That's to say; Make a hole, Put a trap against it and Move! Get another one down. Don't squat there, fussing and f***ing around with it. I guess I'll just have to train myself to that mentallity. Relax and get loads more traps down With this in mind, by the way, I have a bag in my freezer. It's always being added to. Mice!
