air gunner 0
Hi what should you do if you come across a mixi rabbit? Does burning them kill the disease? Also i have heard that the disease can live in unused burrows for a few years is this true? Quote Link to post

Also i have heard that the disease can live in unused burrows for a few years is this true? Burning is the best option or dig a hole and sling the wabbit in there together with some lime. If you don't have lime, make the hole deep enough so that it can't be dug up by fox &co. ATB Michael Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
I just whack them and burry them out in the open, it must go some way to slowing mixy down on your patch Quote Link to post
festa 206
its the flea that transmits the mixi so even if you do kill it and bury it if its been with the other rabbits you'll never slow it down Quote Link to post
welshdragen 9
its the flea that transmits the mixi so even if you do kill it and bury it if its been with the other rabbits you'll never slow it down thats what i herd that its the flea that caries the disease to the othere rabbits so cant slow it down just needs to thor its self out but killing the ones that h as got it will help a bit Quote Link to post
air gunner 0
So burning is the best option but does it kill the flea? Quote Link to post
festa 206
yes mate it will kill the fleas on that rabbit but what about all the other rabbits that have fleas who pass them on to the others who pass it on to the others its a massive chain reaction thats just has to run its course ..... another thing you need to watch is if you work your dogs the flea will live on your dog (dont worry the dog wont get mixi) however when you get home if you have pet rabbits well need i say more Quote Link to post
gazguildford 0
also mites pass it on so clothes should go straight in a hot wash best way to slow mixi is shoot as many as you can probably not possible but shooting the population on ur permission means no mixi but also means no bunnys no sport and so on for atleast a year to 2 years to re populate id say go out have a little sport and the rest who knows where it will lead edit! i always burn mixie bunnys Quote Link to post

air gunner 0
That may have something to do with a few buzzards and a family of foxes that live nearbye. Damed buggers stole one of my chickens. A 12bore may have to visit i think. Quote Link to post
gazguildford 0
5 years? no mixie lol try and introduce a little breeding programme and let em loose alot of people dont like it but for the good of the sport lol Quote Link to post
