bsa lightning small problem..

Recommended Posts

took my first shot and after i tried cocking it again to take another these 3 little bars came out from underneeth. now it cocks but not properly it will not fire.

tried to put the little bar back through but i had to take the stock off to do so.

took the first screw out no problem but the second was rounded off so i cannot get the stock off to fix it.

my question is how do i take a rounded off screw out to get the stock off. any advice would be great.

The stock of a lightening is held on with allen screws. You wont undo them with a screwdriver. But if the allen head is rounded out use a star drive in a battery drill.

Take the scope off and wrap the gun in a soft towel. You'll have to find a star bit that is slightly bigger than the rounded allen head. Dont hammer it in but lean on it and use the battery drill in short bursts.

If that doesnt work you'll have to drill a small pilot hole and screw in a left threaded self tapping screw. Only drill deep enough that the screw will bite and that should bring the allen screw out.

If your unsure, gunshop.......it wont cost much.

Hey Furdy,

This is the tool to use instead of a left threaded screw

its a stud extractor, kind like a mixture between a tap and a reamer with left handed flutes.... but absolutely useless if the stud is ceased (you end up with a broken stud extractor jammed in the unremovable stud!!)
