Just because a dog dont take cats it dont mean it wont take anything bigger. Most dogs ive had have never looked at a cat but bust any heavy quarry you put it on. Cats are no indication of how hard or game a dog is/going to be. Infact cats are a fcuking nightmare full stop. atb stabba

I'd be happy enough if mine were scared of cats,as it is they grew up around cats and though they will chase them they never strike at them.

It shouldnt make any difference to a dog taking bigger stuff in countries where its legal though, its all down to how the dog is entered to its quarry.

Dont even think about letting your dog chase cats though, apart from the fact its illegal, cats can damage a dog more than you might think. One of them claws in your dogs eye and its f****d mate, there aint many good one eyed lurchers about, ;)

in my none expert opinion, if something runs the dog will chase, when cats hold there ground and bare up to the dog this can throw them, the cats not playing ball and a lot of dogs are wise enough to know cats are fast and sharp, (some dogs will also find it a good opportunity to catch and kill the moggy.)

But most quarry your after wont wanna hang about and then your dogs instinct will kick in.

Im sure itll get the idea.

I could be wrong, just my opinion.

Cheers

when i was a young lad and badger digging was legal my old man had a very good team of terriers that were out up to 3 times a week doing their job ... when my old fella was getting ready to be picked up in the morning he woul tie the dog to the front fence whildt waiting for his lift ... there big old mangy tom cat that lived on top of the street and this thing would just waltz past the dogs without a care in the world and the dogs wouldnt look at him twice ... yet an hour later one of them would be to ground working a big old boar badger ...........
