It looks as thought the Tories will NOT repeal the Hunting Act 2004 !! They will only AMEND it !! The MFHA and the CA are advising them on it, and it looks like it will lead to Fox Hound Packs being licsensed........ No mention of coursing !! I doubt if individuals will ever be allowed to course hares again ! Of course, I hope I'm wrong !!!!

i was at the last few waterloo cups what a piss up it was great but the best course of the whole lot had to go to a whippet greyhound lurcher type that escaped from a car window what a course it rose every 1 to thier feet it was a small black and white bitch can anybady remember this from around 8 yrs ago

i remember the bullx and the saluki both coarsing on the last day slipped out of the croud , the best coarses of the day and both took there hare . the fawn bullx was a fine specimen of a dog .one i would be proud to own .any one else see it

I was under the impression that a future Conservative government would promise a referendum on the issue of hunting with dogs.

 

As regards the Waterloo cup, i feel its a shame that this event ended when the hunting act became law, i have seen terrier racing at shows where the terriers chase a dummy on a cable, which, via a system of pulleys goes through several changes of direction.

 

It must be possible to have simulated Hare coursing on such a course (admittedly much bigger), the pulleys could be moved during runs so that the dogs get different courses to run and it would keep the waterloo cup running until this rediculous ban is overturned by a government with more common sense than the current administration.

Sorry but that in your wildest dreams would nt come close to coursing My greatest fear if this ban gets overturned is the fuel LURE coursing is giving the anti's in as much as "you managed with lure coursing while the ban was in so why do you need to course HARES"? Its the way these antis think

In my opinion the tories if they get in? will implement legislation to benefit the MFHA and registered packs? there is no way on gods earth that they will put in place legislation with re: to lurcher and terrier work the way it was before the ban as we were always seen as the poor relation of hunting with dogs and were cynically used in the numbers game

During the Watson bill in Scotland some lurcher clubs did not even put in a submission to the rural affairs comittee a lot of their attitude was they can ban it if they want, it wont

stop us. The terrier clubs took a different view and through the NWTF put up such a reasoned and forceful argument that terrier work in Scotland came off better than anything else under the act. They also worked hand in hand with the SGA & SHPA and the NFU the more effort you put in the better the result you get.

I agree with you terrier work got a far better deal than south of the border, and many lurcher clubs were remiss in not getting involved, The problem is in Scotland it must be your intention to shoot your quarry fox etc; and still the majority of terrier men here don't posses and have no interest in firearms whilst still carrying out pest control ( personally wish there was no need for firearms while working with terriers) I would suggest there's less members of the NWTF with firearms than there are with terriers? Over 400.000 put in an effort at the last countryside march (liberty and Liveliehood) where did that get us??

Ps: I am a member of the SGA and I also have a shotgun/firearms certificate and always take one of my guns while hunting with dogs, my terrier club is also a member of the NWTF and the majority of the lads don't have access to guns and don't want too, I accompany them to keep them legal and within current legislation
