mandog 37
I have a couple of questions . Today i go and have a look at the pressure my escort is proofed for when using steel. Its proofed for 1200 bar but does'nt this fall into the standard category and not the high performance that it is rated at, it has the fluer di lis mark on it stating so.? If it is proofed for high performance should it not be proofed to 1370? I have some gamebore mammoths 3" rated at 1350 bar, are these ok to use. Thanks. Quote Link to post

mandog 37
Its a 3" does not matter though as the 3 1/2 " is proofed the same. Quote Link to post
wag 13
i think most guns are only proofed for 1200 unless you go into bigger bores .. Quote Link to post

mandog 37
I see wag but it says for guns proved to 1375 bar. Must be an american thing as they are cip approved so save to say ok to use. Quote Link to post

tom1cameron 1
The 1370 Bar is no american thing and IS the pressure proof for using High Performance steel. If your gun has the Fluer de Lys mark then it is proofed to 1370 BAR by the British proof houses and steel shot proof. If in doubt contact Roger at the Birmingham proof house. The pressure tests in the US are different to those here (crusher vs ???) Anyway...I wonder if the 1200 bar value you can see is the american or makers mark. For guns....the pressure proof for 3" and 3.5" chambers are the same. Carts are slightly different. Again..any doubts go straight to Edgar brothers or the proof house Edited September 4, 2009 by tom1cameron Quote Link to post
