lamping with strange dogs!!!

Iwas lamping the other night with a bloke i sort of no (who thinks his dogs are the mutts nuts at everything) and my bitch was acting wierd. she always does this with strange dogs, she only brings her quarry within 12 foot of me so the other dogs dont get it.

Do any of yours do this, this bloke told me that my dog was sh#t as she didnt bring it back to hand. I thought it was normal.

 

Any thoughts????

that behaviour is pretty normal really, i have two dogs, which live together, and i have had them since both were pups, they only retrieve to within 10 ft of me if i have one of them on a lead at my side, its just a very natural instict that is bred into them, i wouldnt worry about what the other bloke says,

Thanks for that, his pup caught a dropped rabbit and brought it strait back. I did tell him it's because its a pup when it catches properly it wont do that. :wankerzo4:

i always lamp alone, have only once lamped with company -which i did enjoy, but i love lamping alone, my pace, my dog, my choice on direction, quarrey etc i feel you concentrate more on your dog and everything else, its more quiet as no one talking and you learn more as you can come home in thought of the night's work

 

in regards to not knowing whose around, i think your much more aware of your surroundings when alone and sometimes saftey in numbers simply isn't true . .

I agree LL. But there is nothing worse than your own imagination. The one farm i go to they got a man that is'nt quite the full tickett and some nites he appears from no where in the middle of the field while i lamp. (it scares the b-jesus out of me every time)

The only [other] people out there is other lampers, or maybe keepers.?? You more [safer] in the country, than in the town. Weekend in town more chance of getting a kicking, than any night in the country. Nothing to be frighten of,the[ night] is a lampers [friend]. 75% of the time ive lamped on my own, this year will do more with mates than ever before. hoping to get more with 2 dogs than1,run one- rest one.

ffsake it would scare me tooo mate...thats my big fear everytime i switch the lamp on in a place i dont know...what if someone else is there who is doing something they shouldnt be ...creeeps me up...hehehe
