Wild_and_Irish 11
if you have a length of rope and a bit less than half way down it you tie a loop, you could put one end through the loop and then you would be left with a loop big enough to go over the head, hold both ends and to slip the dog just let go of the end thats been put through the loop, hope you can understand what I mean by that, I'll post a pic of one I made later on. Bosun11 537
Tried just about every variation on slip leads over the years, from a bit of old rope to them propper coursing toggle things, all are shite, unless your out in company, where restraint is nessasary. Try to teach your dog to work 'off slip' when on its own and the more graft it sees the easier it'll be. Most 'made' slips (factory) like the toggle are great if you plan on one or two slips a night, as getting the feckers back on 'em certainly dampens the spirit when your messing about with it, your mutt's doin cartwheels and a whole field of bunnys is happily heading for home! Nowt wrong with 'collars on' either, to be honest, I insist, working off slip or on, I need to be able to control (restrain) my dog in any situation that arises on a night (or day) out. Your dog is more likely to come a cropper with sommat else than a neck injury from its collar and dogs necks are one of their strongest parts so unless they go arse over tit in a ditch, no worrys there. Like Wilf said, and i've used 'em plenty lately, Strong Stuffs slips are strong, cheap and most important, dead easy and fast to use, quick to put a dog on, quick to let a dog off.... All you need really! Quote Link to post
