Recommended Posts

Only been on forum for a short time(new to computors) was thinking of buying a new lamp for this season I have always made my own in the past last one lasted over 20yrs. But thought it was time to go out and buy one, what would you all recamend must be light weight (due to old age) not worried about battery lasting all night just a few hours (age again ). Any advice would be well appreciated thanks

as regards spotlights i never leave the house without my blaserlight fitted with its hinged filter, its got a secondary bulb for gettin through hedges etc and its super reliable... but if i'm using a vehicle i work with the lightforce 170... the wiring is crap on lightforce lamps but they throw a brilliant tight beam thats ideal for lurcher work and saying as you've been wiring your own lamps you should be able to wire a lightforce no problem... there is a new make of lamps out called 'night stalker' and they are supposed to be the same as lightforce only with better wireing....

as for battery packs, i'd recommend a belt pack that will save your shoulder a whole lot... 12volt 10 amp will last long enough and will be really light to carry... it isnt overly expensive either... if your lookin for something super lightweight then there are these new lithium packs that last twice as long but they are super expensive from what i've seen...

depends what size of fields your lamping

Small fields up here biggest is about 10acres mainly surrounded by dry walls and heather borders but always work from the heather outwards wind permitting walked the same fields for over 60yrs (ferrited them for over 30yrs) been asked to get rid of rabbits on some new ground that was guarded hard by last owners for 15yrs so thought it was time to up grade kit any help would be usefull thanks.

Lightforce 170 (striker) i use mine with a 17ah battery,and a pair of 7ah's wired in tandem.

Have had some 3-4 hour sessions and the 17ah has never gone flat on me,same with the pair of 7ah's but they are on a shoulder harness and easier to carry.

i think the laserlite will do the trick... its got a 50watt bulb instead of the 100watt bulb like its twin the blaserlite... you can pick up a laser for about £45 but keep in mind the blaser is only an extra tenner and if you dont like the amount of power it uses you can put in a 50watt bulb anyway... if ye buy a laser and find that its not powerful enough then you will need to get a 100 watt bulb and also order the metal reflector because the laserlite will melt without it
