LordGamebore 0
What's the maximum range for a 12ft .177 for pigeon, crows and magpies? I normally use the shotgun for such quarry, but I need something quite for around my farm buildings, so I brought an airarms s410. Also, where is the best place to aim when shooting a bird? I've been told that headshots produce the cleanest kills, but also that neck shots work better. Cheers Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
the maximum range is the one you no you can get a clean kill at. ie.. if you set a target up try it at 30 yards then go out to 40 and see how well you group. if it isnt as well then you have gone past your maximu range Quote Link to post
LordGamebore 0
I meant maximum range for penetration. I wouldn't shoot at ranges I wasn't comftable with anyway, well not with a living creature. Is 50 yards pushing it? Quote Link to post
wuzzy 0
i have shot quarry at 55+yrds but its pushing it for shot placement only to be done under ideal circumstances the penatration is there aslong as you get the soft spots but crows i would suggest no futher than 40yrd there tough old birds Quote Link to post
