Sorley x 32
There are always lurchers about. The question you be what do you want the dog to do? Then choose the dog that will suit the task AND you. All the best S Quote Link to post

maty j 6
if your a newbie to this sort of thing dont get a pup training it will only end in tears thats unless you have a friend who knows what they are talking about if you get a pup you will miss this season by miles anyway! i would say get a pup but do your research first and dont rush into anything. what quary you hoping to run? are you going to be using with the gun for retreiveing work? what ground are you running? you need to realy think about it before decideing on what to get, i took over a year and have now got a colliexgreyxwhippet which im hopeing will do all i ask of her. i thort i would skip the puppy first and just get out and do abit and buy in a adult dog. waste of time and money! he wasnt in the best of nick, totaly the breeding in him isnt really ment for what i wanted. he chewed barked i even seen him run day and night and caught nothing but still i wanted a dog to run there and then. i learnt by my mistakes and would never buy in a adult dog again unless i knew 100 percent why they were getting rid and knew the person was genuine to there word and not a complete messer like this cock was!! LDR 29
I'd say go for a pup, but only once you've done a bit of homework, get purdeys progress, this will help you out if you aint trainded a dog before, be prepared to make mistakes too, it'll be an education for ya, remember though its not the dogs fault when things go wrong...... Borderer 0
I'm a great believer in not only getting a dog that suits your intended prey and type of country but one that also suits your own character too. By that I mean for example if you are a loud outgoing character then avoid the shy timid type of pup and so on. Best of luck with whatever you get. Quote Link to post
Guest ADAM AND HIS DOGS
i recommend u get a pup and get out over the autumn and winter with an experienced dog man. then come next year you will have the experience and the support to train and start your dog off to a hopefully sucessful career at you chosen interests Quote Link to post
