broken leg

Recommended Posts

well people as most of you know from my last thread i had to take my lurcher Taffy to the rspca to get his leg fixed, and what a load of money grabing b#####ds they are do you know what they done for him ? sweat FA they put another splint on him give me some medication for the swelling and told me to come back wednesday for check up, they booked him in to get neutered on the 14 of september and said they will take a closer look at the break then, FFs that will be 3 weeks with a broken leg in a splint before they even decide what action to take, they were more concerned with getting him neutered, surely by then his bones would have started to knit back together and his leg might not be straight, whats your veiws on this please people

Thanks TD

FCUK THEM RIGHT OFF MATE. They are only intrested in you not breeding off your hunting dog. Get thedog to a reputable vet straight away. If your skint then borrow the money. It will be worth it in the end. atb stabba

i agree with the post above . . get a loan, use a credit card, borrow from a friend,

hell even if you need to get to the vets let them treat your dog then f**k off out the door knowing they'll be sending you the bill,,thats how i payed for me ferret kit getting treatment, cost me 150 pound . . .

this is a good example as to why we should insure our dogs or put some cash aside once a week . .

i wouldn't bother with the rspca mate, their a bunch of idiots, if anything go to pdsa as i have a friend who has 3 dogs registered with them and they say nothing but praise, all the very best for you and this dog, but i agree with you three weeks is a long time to wait and the body will naturally start healing itself, you don't want your dog suffering with more damadge then what he already has,, keep us posted mate and sorry this has happened

all the very best lurcher lass xxx

Do you know anyone on benefits/ not working that can use PDSA ???. Or failing that ring vet or go in with dog- tell them situation tell them what you can pay- offer an agreement & tell them your dog is your priority. 2 more weeks with a broken leg is going to cause no end of problems.

RSPCA got a lot to answer for,

Skint or not. A vets first priority should the animals welfare. If the leg is as bad as you say then the vet should treat it straight away. Take it to a vet and let them treat it. Only after treatment should you tell them about your financial situation. By this time its too late and they will be forced to accept weekly/monthly terms. atb stabba

If you feel the dog is worth it you should get the dog fixed and money shouldnt come into it .....One of my dogs broke his hok last year and he was taken to the best orthapedic surgeon in the country and the first thing I said to himm was do whatever it takes to get this dog back to some normality no matter of the cost ...I was told that he may never run again but as long as I got this dog even 70 percent to what he was I would be happy as he gives me his all so the least I could do was give the dog a chance ...he was operated on and now has 2 pins in his hok ..he was in a cast for 3 month 3 very long months with the dressing haveing to be changed every 5 days ....he was walked on a leed for about a month then his fitness was worked on to tighten everything up ...he has had all summer to rest but run everyday on easy ground he is back amongst it again and everything looks ok but whos to say he wont break his leg on his next slip but he is here to be grafted and earn his keep and you cant wrap a dog like this in cotton wool ....

I know what your going through but dont come on here moaning about the RSPCA they are the ones offering to fix your dog and if your not going to put your hands in your pocket then there your only option ....if you thought anything of your dog then you would of got it done properly no questions asked ....it cost me 0ver 3k to get this dog fixed and alot of hard work to get him back fit but its the least I could do ....

Hers a pic of him after his first proper graft after his break .

If the swelling is still so bad that they won't touch it I'm concerned that you could end up with a non running dog: this needs looking at NOW. I'm pretty damn broke myself, but if we all chipped in £25 to help the lad then surely we could help him. I'm willing to put in £25 for starters.
