earthpig 0
Bull x for foxing without a doubt , but i would consider a variety before making up your mind unless your plaged with foxes over their i would get a all rounder that you can do all sorts of quarry with your hearts got to be in it with working dogs or it will show in your dogs performance if you get one devote a lot of time to rearing and then working it as thats what they want more experiance better the dog will become finaly only buy of working stock you will generaly find they are the one that dont big their dogs up as their is a lot who think they have the answer to your needs and will tell you what you want to hear when you have the cash in yor pocket veiwing a litter of pups my last pair i went to see severn litters over about two years till i got what i wanted dont be afraid to walk away from a litter no matter how nice they are veiw the parents as much as the pups ,look around at the kennels etc you will see who puts time into their working dogs Their are more con men in the working dog world as dodgy car dealers are about the welsh valleys Keep working them dogs boys Quote Link to post

Ive been waitin for the breed im gettin for a while now, ive bought numerous dogs that i bought workin n then not be fully satisfied, but ive yet to get a pup n not bring them to the dog i wanted.. so my bit of advise would be to buy a pup n bring em on yourself.. Its time consuming n heart aching waitin for them to be ready but be patient n the rewards of doin it your way are tremendous.. Best of luck.. Pa Quote Link to post

Terrier man 38
Its grand to advise you on a bullx for foxes but i wouldnt personaly if you where a first time lurcher owner as they can be a handfull it depends on the cross tho . wouldnt advise a half cross. Id go for a first cross deerhound greyhound .They should take fox with ease and do very well on rabbit and hare. Have a look at chris hicklings wheaten hound pups think there 5/8hound 3/8 wheaten . theres 2 bitchs left but there very well bred If they turn out anything like the sire or dam they will be very handy pups. earthpig 0
Your right "wexford pa" the rewards are high ,last night i took my young dog out and out of 3 runs caught two ,very good in my opinion for afirst night on lamp but i have put a lot of work into them prior to that day time work etc it was a very entertaining night & the lad was out with me a bonus in my opinion he is only seven and is entering into the sport and will be the next generation i advise all hunters to try and encourage their kids into it ,encourage not push their curiosity will get the better of them and they will be asking to come out with you , have a look at New season starts in this colum on lurchers only a beddy cross but they are crackers for rabbiting Quote Link to post

They arnt the easy to get going. Another ideal cross would be a first cross collie hound . Quote Link to post
