JackWard 0
Hi I currently own a GWP pup, which at times will heel on the lead. But when i am with my dad and he's walking the other dog it pulls. She knows what to do when i say heel, but it doesnt last long. She is also half/half off the lead and keeps going on two far ahead and i have to keep reminding her. Is this natural for a younger dog and will she mature, or is there any advice. Kind Regards Jack W Quote Link to post
rickyspringer 15
Jack this is perfectly normal mate, all what you have to do is when the dog pulls turn 180 degrees and walk in that direction, this will stop pulling or even just stop still when the dog pulls, it will understand that its getting nowhere by pulling! rebell 0
i agree with rickyspringer, if your walking with other dogs then really crack down on the behaviour because it could lead to misbehaviour when working near other dogs, i allways use a bit of a check on the lead, turn walk the other way or simply stop get the dog back to heel and when ready carry on, if your with other dogs ive allways made the other person carry on walking. nercwys 10
Make sure the lead is right at the top of the neck keep the lead short. When he/she pulls give a quick tug back put the lead next to your left pocket an keep it short. It works. Quote Link to post
