Guest simonw
The Midland Game Fair September 16th 17th The 2006 Working Ferret Championship Making its debut appearance at this years Midland is the Midland Working Ferret Championship, a ferret show with a difference, forging a strong link with the working ferret, recreating the original ferret show atmosphere that started many years ago. Situated in the Lurcher & Terrier area, the ferrets have grown from strength to strength with the ferreting demonstrations by Simon Whitehead of Pakefield Ferrets joined on his stand by many of the Uk’s top net makers plying their trade and in 2005 the All Shires Ferret club held a net making competition to compliment the information, displays and demonstrations on all aspects of ferreting from welfare issues to laying long nets, buying equipment to making your own or just having a yarn with many of the characters from the ferreting world. The show has benefited from its sponsors that include Deben Group Industries, Vitalin Ferret Food, Timber Products, Simon Whitehead and Pakefield Ferrets, Sean Frain, Belshedo Pet Supplies, East Coast Ferrets including The Ferret Tamer and Black Dog trading, to name a few at time of going to press. The new show is being run by Rick & Dee from East Coast Ferrets with a independent judge ruling a experienced eye over the proceedings. The show has been designed to complement, by linking together, the net making, ferrets and indeed, lurchers to show the unity and atmosphere of those shows that started the modern day ferret show and the show will have a ferret crèche under supervision so you can leave your ferrets in a safe secure area so you can enjoy the whole show. The show is being held on the Saturday only(lurcher day) and the list of classes is different than the normal ferret show, promoting the ferret in its true vocation, at work.
