BigE 0
Hi All, I am awaiting delivery of a Howa 223, has anyone got any tips on the best foxing round for this particular rifle. Quote Link to post
Tobias 0
Hi there i shoot with a 223 but not a howa but get on very well with Remmington accu-tips ballistic tips 50grn get about 1" drop at 200yrds when zeroed for 100yrd but if i cant get them then i use 55grn soft points from remmington but they are a bit louder out of the silencer. Most of my friends use 55grn federals i think there called V- shock and they work very well to. And trust me the foxes hate them it can make a mess of them sometimes. Quote Link to post
bullx 12
Hi,i also shoot a .223,i mostly use american eagle 50gr hollow point, they are a fairly flat round and can inflict so damage on foxes ranging from 50 yards to 250 yards, Quote Link to post
dixyhmr 62
Depends on twist to an extent. Try privi a go. Cheap as chips and do the job..... ( 55g sp ). Quote Link to post
BigE 0
thanks very much for the information Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
50 or 55 grains will go well. look at federal ammo and privi as there pretty cheap as ong as your rifle likes them. trouble is its trail and error you have to find what suites yours rifle. sako sp worth a try tho Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Mine used to like the AE 50gr hollow points, or anything expensive if I couldn't get them. Quote Link to post
woollyback 0
I have the same rifle, its a 1500 lightening with a 1:12 twist. I have very good success with Remmy accutips 55gr, very accurate and not over expensive for premium ammo - £16.00 per box. I have only recently switched to Federal 40gr BT, only because my local FD didnt have any Remmys; But I'm more than chuffed with the feds, very flat accurate round that splatters them everytime.
