Last night I decided to have a look through some LPs just to see which ones are making the trip to Australia with me and I came across some old Trojan sounds. I thought I'd give them a bit of a spin and I'm so glad I did! As soon as the first bars of Young Gifted and Black came on I was in heaven! I sat and played though the Tighten Ups and got all my old 45s out too! As I sat on the floor I was taken back to when I was 16 again and by the time I'd finished the first bottle of wine I got to wondering where my tonic suit and brogues were

Anybody here a fan of Trojan?

The top sounds of last night:

Pied Piper - Bob and Marcia

Reggae in your Jeggae - Dandy Livingstone

Small Axe - Bob Marley

Phoenix City - Roland Alphonso

Lovers Concerto - don't remember who this one is by, but it's on an album with a bird kneeling down on the front cover - anyone know it?

Lovers concerto - The Toys............................ I think

What about The Skatalites or Prince Buster I even used to like Gregory Isaacs once over.

A few of my favourites (Not Reggae obviously) are:-

Say it isn't so - Betty Boo

That's what I want to know - James Carr

Music with soul - Pallbearers

Stick together - Prince and Princess (cover)

Tell her - Dean Parrish (one for the bionic dancers)

I could reel em off by the bucket full, but I'd just be showing my age.

Aye, I've got a good memory

Dark End of the Street is my favourite of his. Him and Solomon Burke have got the best soul voices in my opinion.

Have you had a look at John Manship's website?

some pricey stuff on there hese days

If I fancy anything from that part of my distant past I generally get it from Nick Rennie, he's got a good site as well, with a player attached, passes the time on nights, theres upwards of 1100 songs on it and you can choose any 30 for a fiver, right do.

Solomon Burke, I once let him sit on my knee, my legs have been f****d ever since, but you're right, big man, big voice.
