BLUCHER 1
Ever had a bad experience while lamping or ferreting, ive been bowled over twice by a dog when the rabbit went by my feet, slipped 20 feet down an icy bank into a pond, thougth i was going to freeze to death when i got caught in the worst snowstorm ive ever seen in this country. But the worst experience was when i took this lad lamping , real old hand so he told me, stupid b-----d only slipped his dog on a rabbit when my dog was chasing it and was coming straight towards me down the beam my dog only avoided a head on collision by jumping over his dog, needless to say after a few choice words we parted company. Guest jt750
All part of the fun mate ..i've had one leg in a drain (painful) slipped around 40 yards down a bank on my @rse ..wish i had a video of that ..fell over a cow that was laid down looking for bunnies on a baron night ..lucky i wasn't trampled. Tripping over fresh air is the best on a newly sown field ..should i be admitting to this Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
A couple of us were out lamping a few years ago, when a mates dog chased a rabbit towards him, so he stuck his leg out to trip it up, just as the dog took his legs from under him, smashed his face onto the frosty ground and put his top teeth through his top lip, I tried not to laugh but could'nt help myself but he would have laughed if it had been me Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
Crouched down to grab a rabbit that was running straight towards me and missed it, and forgot that there were two beddy x greys chasing it, the first ran head first into mine knocking me onto the floor, the second rolled me over. I thought id been punched in the face, i was dizzy for about 5 mins and had a hell of a bleeding nose, But was funny. Quote Link to post
Fabapocalypse 35
Not working, just exercising: new year's eve, 2007. Out on my own with my dog, he was having a mad five minutes, like they do, in a part-flooded field and hit my left leg head on... I was taking photos of him at the time, and this is, genuinely, the moment just before impact: I didn't go down straight away, only when the pain hit, and when I did it was into six inches of water. I was two miles from my car but it was the first time I'd taken this particular route and I didn't know where I was, if you see what I mean, to call anybody out. It was a long, slow hobble back; I didn't see a soul the whole way. At one point I had the choice of either climbing over a steel gate or crawling through a "dog-hole" in the fence next to it. Deep joy. My car is manual, so it was a case of it was going into a gear - any gear! - once, and staying there, so third it was, once I'd made it back, because by that stage my knee had swollen so much it wasn't really bending. I had a hospital appointment that afternoon anyway, so they just wheeled me from outpatients to x-ray. I had knee hyperextension and damage to the median anterior ligament. The strapping finally came off around September 2008 I think! I got off fairly lightly though; just this week a guy on another forum had the same damage plus a fracture from virtually the same type of accident (from the same type of dog!). In fact there seem to have been so many people caught the same way that there are tee-shirts being printed and sold as fund-raisers. Quote Link to post
