Tobias 0
Can anyone help me please i want to get a timney trigger for my Remmy 700 sps as my trigger's break is fairly high i tried it on my fishing scales and it reads on average 5 - 7 lbs but its not just that i would like it to feel as light as my cz rimfire and my air guns as they are all set from 3 -4 lbs. The problem i have is i can only find the right trigger on there american site and not at any gunshops near me in cornwall the one i want comes with the safety on it. Also has anyone else got a timney and are they as good as some people say. Thanks for any help. Quote Link to post

jamie g 17
have a look at the 2 stage one they do at jackson rifles mate. or the jewell as well. you could lighten the standard one for the time being Quote Link to post
Spangle 0
If it's just the trigger pull weight that you are not keen on the get your trigger adjusted. The standard factory Remington trigger comes out of the factory at approx 5lb, this can be safely taken down but I wouldn't recommend going below about 2lb. Ring a local gun smith and get a price for adjusting it. Hope this helps. Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
im sure there is a site online that shows you the workings of the trigger and how to adjust it. look it up on google Quote Link to post

I certainly do think adjusting would be the first option, then if not completely satisfied throw a timney in, or if the budget allows get a Jewell Quote Link to post
martin 332
Remington will tell you that all of their triggers are non adjustable, but,I do think that is just them being over zealous on the H&S side.Saying that I have a Timney on mine and it is fantastic.I also have a 'Rifle Basix' trigger on my Ruger .204 and that is just as good to be totally honest. Both are set at 3/4 lb...........Martin. You are right there Martin, I have one that is adjusted to just under 2lb, which works fine for me but I would never take one lower than that as they are not designed to be taken low. If you want a very light trigger pull on a Remmy fit the rifle basix (as Martin has done) or opt for the Timney. I do stand by my first statement though, get it adjusted first and see how you get on. jamie g 17
you can have the trigger polished and then set up. but for the money you mite as well get aftermarket trigger. the difference it will make to your shooting will shock you Quote Link to post

I have quite a bit experiance & adjusted my own down to 1lb & is fine but to be honest im saving for a jewell there is no better. I was also taught with set triggers so like them light & like the jewell on a 10oz setting & just tryed a 6mmbr dry fire with a jewell at 2oz WOW . Pay once & cry once get the jewell HVR & your shooting will improve no end trust me. Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
the jewell is a superb trigger i got one on my 22/250 winchester. set at 1lb but i have different springs for it to. incase i want it lighter. i would never go lighter then that on hunting rifle. if your benchrest target shooting then its ok. but hunting its abit dangerous Quote Link to post
