RichyWales 0
I'll say what Ive always said.... I'd rather be up the fields with my dogs than at a show or bitching on a forum. Rosettes or rabbits... know which I'd prefer to take home. Dont even care if they catch, just like seeing em running their nuts off and enjoying themselves. Personally tho cant bloomin stand "most" show folk, whats the point of having a fast athletic dog if all its gonna do all its life is walk around the roads on a lead, be pampered and pose in a ring... poor dog I say, I'd rather be hammering around a field chasing stuff. Too much competition just attracts assholes. I know theres good people that are into it and Im not sayign their all numptys but Im going from experience of the ones Ive had runnins with... Guest STORM CHASER
I don't understand the need to get a silly rosette anyway....so you have a fit, healthy, working dog that looks great...so why you need some know it all judge, tell you what you already know anyway..and the judges don't always pick out very nice dogs anyway...Do yourself all a favour and just enjoy your dogs... RichyWales 0
Im not really on about lurchers specifically, more the ped breed's. The missus is into showing and the type of dog shes into theres a closed circle of snooty toffy nose sob's that think they're the only ones who should own the dogs and show them. Had numerous runnings with em. The breeder we're mates with says theres all sort of back handed dealings go on like "Im judging this show your dog will win, when you judge the next show my dog will win, swapping pup's for prizes" all sorts of shady crap. Dont want any part of it myself, coursing I'd wanna watch because I love seeing the dog doing what it does best but not just standing around a ring being judged on looks alone, theres more to a dog than the way it looks is all Im saying. A dog bread just for the ring is a waste of a dog in my oppinion... Quote Link to post

RichyWales 0
See your point mate, "show" wasn't clearly defined tho And I was simply expressing a personal preference with the coursing. I do agree with what your saying tho Maybe the organizers of the events to have split "show" categories for working / non-working dogs, wouldn't be too much bother to fire off a suggestion email to upcomming events. That way the real workers get shown together and the show dogs aren't mixed with em... impossible to police tho, even if you demaded photo's of your dog behind a big bag of rabbits it could be faked. How do you prove its a real working dog not just for show.... Quote Link to post

Stuart O Connor 1
I think the smaller shows tend to have less of the show lurchers and the judges like the working dogs more ! Just my opinion ! Quote Link to post
Catcher 1 639
Dont see what all the fuss about.A good judge will soon sort out the wheat from the chaff. Catcher Quote Link to post
