Damsons. Like little plums? My Mum's recipe was 1 pint Gordon's, 1 lb damsons. Stick 'em in a Kilner jar, bung in a couple of tablespoons of sugar and a pinch of brewer's yeast. Keep an eye on it not to let the pressure build up but basically leave it to it. Come Christmas open same and drink. Wake uo with MONSTER hangover and eat the damsons. Wake uo next day with an even bigger hangover . . .You get the message. . . The added sugar and yeast drive refermentation. Should work with any fruit with a high sugar content. Loganberries? Blackcurrants ought to work but you'ld be shitt**g yerself for days. May you have a fruity time at Christmas! Ric

RicW 67
thanks ric, best i be leaving the brewing concoction outside in the shed ,just incase. Good idea. It probably won't go bang but if it does it'll be a bloody loud bang. THE ASHES ARE COMING HOME. No offence but I do have a big silly grin on me face!
fin and fur 2
Virtually any strong alcoholic drink will be infused by pretty much most fruits. I have known sloes, damsels, plums even raspberries and strawberries used for infusing alcohol. I usually make a batch of sloe gin myself each year, last year the sloes were harder to come by than in recent years but i have already noticed that sloe numbers seem to be good this year and already have my eye on a few spots to harvest when the berries ripen. all the best fin and fur Edited August 27, 2009 by fin and fur

yoggerman 5
heres a tip or two.... try vodka instead of gin its not as dry........ and buy the cheapest stuff you can , after all its the alchohol content not the taste your buying, the fruit you use gives the taste

As Fin and Fur said, any soft fruit will work. Also any high proof spirits. Just that so far as I'm concerned it ought to be GIN. I like my GIN cos it makes me SIN. . . . Ahem. Yeah, any soft fruit, left to soak in a 70 proof spirit, will infuse loads of alcohol, taste WONDERFUL, and rot yer teeth. Like I said before, add sugar and brewer's yeast to the mix and it will be LETHAL come Christmas. But at least you'll die with a smile on yer face . . . Ric
