Dave C 63
Here are a few pics of Fern, she has just gone 5 months now and coming along nicely. Fern scenting where rabbits were sat. Where did they all go She loves jumping through the long grass She found a hidden Pheasant wing in the nettles Retrieving a dummy in the garden She is hitting cover hard when hunting and retrieving Pheasant wings and dummies very well. So fingers crossed in a few months i could end up with a handy shooting partner. Dave. Quote Link to post

hendo 1
Lab is looking well Dave, how's the training coming along ? Baz Quote Link to post
Dave C 63
Thanks Baz, she doing well mate, she stops, sits and stays on the whistle, is retrieving well as you would expect but i am very impressed with her hunting in cover, she hits it hard (water as well) and can be a little to keen, but thats what i want in her. The only thing is blind retrieves, but that will come as she is only 5 months and theres no hurry. Cheers Dave. Quote Link to post

Cheers Dave. I'm a novice but have got myself a lovely black lab that I will train for the gun. I have friends in Scotland who got me into shooting before I moved to Derby 2 years ago and am now starting to meet people down here but it's difficult! She is only 3 months at the moment so I haven't done much with her - her recall is pretty good, she will sit on command and I have taken her to the clays where she falls asleep at my feet but I haven't pushed it any further at the moment. You hear so much conflicting advice - I have friends who have done too much too soon with their labs in the past so recommend leaving it a bit, and others who say the earlier the better!! I'm really looking forward to getting into it more, have you got any advice on how much, how soon? Cheers, Yvette Quote Link to post
