She is hitting cover hard when hunting and retrieving Pheasant wings and dummies very well.

So fingers crossed in a few months i could end up with a handy shooting partner.

where did you get her from i got a bitch the same age

Got her from a Keeper in Heighington, he works on a Bedale estate.

Dam is a Stockiemuir Bitch and Sire is Cardy Keas from Shadowbrae out of George Ridley's Kennels.

Cheers lads

Dave.

Thanks Baz, she doing well mate, she stops, sits and stays on the whistle, is retrieving well as you would expect but i am very impressed with her hunting in cover, she hits it hard (water as well) and can be a little to keen, but thats what i want in her.

The only thing is blind retrieves, but that will come as she is only 5 months and theres no hurry.

Cheers

I'm a novice but have got myself a lovely black lab that I will train for the gun. I have friends in Scotland who got me into shooting before I moved to Derby 2 years ago and am now starting to meet people down here but it's difficult! She is only 3 months at the moment so I haven't done much with her - her recall is pretty good, she will sit on command and I have taken her to the clays where she falls asleep at my feet but I haven't pushed it any further at the moment. You hear so much conflicting advice - I have friends who have done too much too soon with their labs in the past so recommend leaving it a bit, and others who say the earlier the better!! I'm really looking forward to getting into it more, have you got any advice on how much, how soon?

Cheers,

Yvette
