CornishmanUK 0
One of my life ambitions is to catch a Marlin, i was gonna have a go at in South Africa but didnt get around to it when I was over there. Has anyone here had the privilege of catching one of these bad boys? Quote Link to post

skinnyrat 0
i once went out sea fishing while in mexico, myself and another guy were taking turns to fish,i had caught a couple of barracuda, when he hopped in for a turn, and hooked a marlin, not a big one but big enough,so i like to think i was at least close to hooking one Quote Link to post
terry 0
ive had marlin an sailfish, tarpon along with others, what i would say, is go somewhere and get to know the locals, i usually fish from islamorada , lauderdale , miami , but ive fished most of florida , charters boats can run into$1000/1000's per day without tipping if u dont know the crack, i am lucky i fish with friends that own boats so we split the fuel, i would say head over to mexico, lot of sport to be taken there's a hell of a lot, same rule applies, stay out of the tourist trap, if u want a buzz go down to the keys and fish for shark off the jetties, takes u a while to turn a run lol and after an 2 hours with a salmon spinning rod ,spinning reel ,30lb main line ,100 lb trace u land a big bull shark u know uve been fishing Quote Link to post

phil wright 2
i didnt get chance to have a go at marlin when i was in hawaii.i think it cost 500 dollars for half a day which isnt bad considering you might catch the fish of a lifetime.the same lads who run the trip had gone out the day before i met them and hooked what they said was a big thresher shark.they had to cut it loose in the end. the same lads spotted the 20 foot great white that was filmed off the north shore this year but it wouldnt take any bait.it just kept swimming under the boat.the captain who runs the boats told me he was woken up at 2.00 in the morning by one of his lads telling him there was an aeroplane under the boat. now thats fishing :11: if anyone ever goes to hawaii you just have to go in a shark cage.give these lads a ring you wont regret it. www.sharktourshawaii.com Quote Link to post
