the_stig 6,614
again who said what when and to who , how was it interprited by plummer how much artistic licence did he add etc the book is of interest to any one who keeps fells whether you take as gosspel what is written is another matter, i have in my possestion a interview with bill brightmore with photos that have never been printed it makes good reading, plummer interviewed bill too but wrote the book as a history of the fell terrier , i think he did a half decent job, but left a few out , there are many untold stories how this type came about fact and fiction but all interesting, at the end of the day the old fellas dug to and bred working terriers a type they called the fell , black, blackntan, red, and wishy washy as gm calls em blue ones , crossbreds them all some of the contents may be a variation or extension of the truth some good fell terrier lads of the day never got a mention .. gonetoearth -- i think the only mention ken gould got was one line where plummer called him a dog dealer ??? i remember gouldys response was plummer was a man with an over active brain who was cleaver with a pen and had to much time on his hands .. i thought gouldy chinned plummer at the yorkshire one year but i was wrong he just chased him round the car park for a bit plummer was to fast for him .. someone else chinned him maybe it was brightmore Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
Are you sure about that Stig. Wasn't the great Mr Plummer a renowned boxer who trained great boxers by getting them to lift sacks of the 1000s of dead rats he used to kill. LOL. Quote Link to post
