the theory that money has ruined the border terrier doesn't stack up relative to the springer spaniel which is still the best working gun dog although it is KC regd and pups change hands for big money.

 

the difference between a terrier and a springer is the springer has kept its working core through the field trials. whereas the majority of borders bred will never see much more than the sofa.

 

is there any point in trying to preserve a specific type of terrier when there are so many different working terriers, surely it would make sense to breed worker to worker of any terrier be it patterdale, lakey or Russell to actually try and preserve the working terrier.

its a good thing what you are doing mate but the price of the borders is that if you pay 4oo for your dogs and they do the digging well you still want ya money back for the pups.i dont ca\re who says what ive worked borders for years and they have all proved themselves and my pups were the same price as the parents what i paid which was 350 a pup and i wasnt stuck with a pup because theb people who bought them new they grafted.but you do get the peoplke who just want to earn a quick buck and mine were k.cd to.

absolute fcuking sh1t talk if all border onwers think like this muppet then you s are beat before yous start .the genuine lads will have proper digging dogs standing in there kennells proably given too them by like minded dog men and i ll bet not one of them is a border.to save the border things have to change ie forget money .quick question lurchers if you give 400 for a good bitch and you breed her and she has 5 pups why not just charge a 100 a pup your still a 100 quid up on price of original bitch thats your money back dont think so you muppet pound sign s rock your boat

 

 

A1 ... took the words right out of my mouth. A couple near where I am have just paid 450 for a border terrier pup that will never see a dig. Bloody shame because they are fine wee dogs that are going to hell in a hand cart with breeders and the like just seeing the £ signs.

Sorry for not being able to reply any sooner but Ive been flat out on the barn roof. Thanks to all those that have posted in a positive way...Anyway we have received the membership cards so i will be posting those out over the course of next week so please bare with me. The first batch were not up to scratch so we sent them back hence the delay in getting them sent out to you.

We have been working hard on the club website and that is now ready for you to have a look at...Certain parts of it are restricted to members only another good reason to join the club, not that you should need one. I hope the club site is okay and welcome any comments that may help improve it as building a club site on the computer has stretched me i must admit Ive lost count of the ammount of hours it has taken us to get it finished.This is the link to it..I hope it works okay and would appreciate it if you could let me know how you get on with the link...
