RichyWales 0
Hi, Im new around here, just thought I'd share some pics of my hounds, hope you like My big boy, slightly large for a whippet at 23" at the shoulder but I wouldn't have him any other way, best dog ever! So proud of him, not trained to hunt yet but hopefully I'll change that. His instincts are really solid. My new lurcher bitch that I just took in because she needed a home, shes a good rabbiter And this lovely young whippet came with the lurcher, also a rabbiter. And the rest of my pack Quote Link to post

whippet 99 2,613
nowt wrong with a whippet , turn on a six pence, what a nice pack-and what a pricey shopping bill, fair play to, they look in top condition Quote Link to post
RichyWales 0
Cheers all, They put on a little weight earlier in the year but Ive been working hard to get it off and tone them up, runnning them for a good hour or so at first light and again in the evenings after its cooled down so its really paying off now. Shes my first lurcher though, only had her a few days because her owner was leaving the country so they needed a good home, so glad I took her on shes a star and I was keeping an eye out for something the same size as my big boy because hes a lump of a dog Need to spend as much time with the new lurcher and whippet as possible, they're bonding with me well and following my commands so Im really happy about that. cúagusgiorraí 57
Welcome! Your 23" whippet is very impressive! Is that an Italian Greyhound there? Does it come out rabbiting as well? I have been told they can be surprisingly fast and agile. Whats it like out in the field? Quote Link to post
RichyWales 0
Well spotted, you know your dogs sir Yep thats my girlfriends italian, shes still just a pup though and destind for the show ring. She'd kill me if I took it hunting lol Shame I hear their pray instinct is stronger than the whippets but too fradgile for my liking. Glad you like my boy, I can't express how proud I am of him and hes my best buddy. Had so many people offer to take him off me, not a damn chance! Not sure how he got so big, hes ped whippet through and through but I like em big so its all good Quote Link to post

ginababys 0
I'd love an italian greyhound, i tried to find one a few years ago and it seems impossible to come by em. Not to work tho just as a pet, i think you have to be in some kind of a special club to even be allowed to buy one lol. I decided against in the end as they are very fragile and i have young children so wouldn't be very wise. I would still like one in the future when the kids are more responsible, thats if i ever find a breeder. Nice dogs anyway there a credit to ya Quote Link to post

RichyWales 0
Thanks very much lurcher lass they're all stunners, wouldnt care if they weren't love them just the same Ive got an eye for a good hound but I prefer to rescue where ever possible. Too many of these dogs get mistreated, passed around, sold on and sadly much worse. Its more rewarding bringing a rescue/rehome into my pack and watching them come good. Share some pics of yours some time Gina, Yeah italian's are really hard to get hold of and I know exactly what you mean about the "special club". Not nice people at all... Quote Link to post
