Hob kit Trying to eat mothers ears

Went out to feed the ferrets today and hob was biting the mothers ears and ripping them looked like he was trying to eat them anyone know why?

Hob is about 3 months old and bigger than the mother

Ye the other hob kit has but hes been sold now but the hob that im keeping has started doing it. Jills are fine with it though

If the sucking makes her ears sore just use a saline solution to bathe them, dont use anything like dettol on them as the kits likely to injest it & it contains phenol thats poisonious to ferrets

if the other kitt was the same, but has been sold on, then obviously they are old enough to be split from the mum, so why not just remove him from her cage, would be the simplest solution

ye i will be having the hob soon anyway. But today i just got up and went out to see the ferrets and one of the jills were doing it...

Try dabbing her ears with bitter apple or something like that he will soon stop

I've seen the ferrets at pet stores do that.. You'd pull the igloo house out of the pen and you'd find baby ferrets sucking on each others ears.. One poor boy even had the misfortune of having his "thing" mistaken for a nipple ;-)

They have all stopped now anyway and the mother should be gone by Friday hopefully
