brent pelham country fair and terrier and lurcher show

Recommended Posts

I used to go to this show every year to race my terriers, and it was good fun.

Over the last few years entries for the terrier and lurcher showing sections fell away (why, I couldn't possibly comment - I didn't "do" showing) and for the last couple of years they've held a kind of "all dogs together" thing class by class in the main ring, without separate showing for terriers and lurchers. You bought a bunch of raffle tickets ringside and handed them in one at a time when you wanted to enter a class... the atmosphere wasn't the same.

The last couple of times I've been, the parking honcho has tried to get me to park my non-4WD ordinary road-going saloon diagonally across the world's biggest tractor ruts, whilst waving the Navarras and so forth onto the nice smooth bits! Hey ho. I didn't bother going last year.

That said it does look like they're reverting to the way it used to be - and there's a number to get a schedule:

Me and "er indoors went to the show not a bad afternoon out but the standard of judging in the lurcher event especially for best in show was shocking

I spoke to the reserve champion and they only put the dog in for fun as it was the first time they had been to a show and the dog has never worked

We didnt enter after seeing the judge get bitten on the ear in the first round by a puppy
