C3PO 118
Hello, This evening I was out with the HW100 and thought I'd share a very satisfactory shot (well for me and an airgun anyway). On my estate (not my personal estate!) this evening I spotted a rabbit and pinged him with the laser rangefinder...I knew he was far away and it was confirmed at 48 yards. I positioned the shooting stick with the rifle on board but these sticks are a double-edge sword ... they hold the rifle but wobble like mad. Very annoying. Anyway, I dropped the stick and decided to do it standing as bushes were in the way. You can see the terrain here: The rabbit above is between the two clumps that stick out. I took a good five minutes to take the shot, raising and lowering the rifle as I was not happy with the "hold" position. With the Viper the setting was dead easy, one mildot up and I was very confident about that. Anyway, once I was eventually happy and the rabbit was settled I took the shot ... and heard the comforting "thwack" as lead hit the skull and the rabbit dropped instantly. There was no kick. Upon retrieval the evidence spoke for itself about the success of the shot: I paunched the rabbit in the field and left him there for a fox I'd seen earlier in the evening: Edited August 17, 2009 by C3PO Quote Link to post

C3PO 118
Cheers again but my secret weapon (apart from the brilliant rifle) is the laser rangefinder. I'd say it has improved my hunting by at least 50% because it takes one massive variable out of the firing sequence. It only cost £ too new. Edited August 17, 2009 by C3PO Quote Link to post

C3PO 118
I would stress that my rifle / pellet / scope combination is awesomely accurate, there was zero wind so deviation wasn't an issue horizontally for a wounding shot and, clearly, I took a good amount of time for it. But it is an absolutely maximum distance under ideal conditions. Oddly enough, I'm more confident up to that distance with the HW100 than with the FAC, the Weihrauch is that good. Here is the rifle -- which has been tuned for further consistency and shot-count: For the geeks amongst us, at 48 yards the pellet is travelling at 570fps with a retained energy value of 7.3 ft.lbs.
