mj robson 8
I've shot many a good buck in sh1tty weather, they tend to stay a bit closer to the cover. You've just got to get up close and personal!! Mark. Quote Link to post
champion 0
hi. just a quick question... does anyone shoot roe in bad weather like when its raining? or is there no point trying in weather like that? The trouble with bad weather stalking is keeping sights clear for the shot lens cover are good on my estate I have a bad weather hide under tall conifer plantation and I can usually get a shot as they stay under cover in the bad weather and it is nice still to be able to go out in all conditions and still stay dry. perthshire keeper 1,239
i have found i can still get a shot in bad weather most of the times but you realy have to have your wits about you as its been said it can get up close. also you could youse the weather to your advantage if its raining real hard for a day or two have a realy good stalk morning and night when the weather clears up as they will have been in cover on tick over mode and will take the chance to fill overe their bellies when the weather calms down agen good luck Quote Link to post
mj robson 8
It was raining bucket loads this morning yet we still shot this big fella at 06:15. I've seen him twice in the last 5 days at this spot so we took it nice and slow and came across him feeding in the game crop, shot him at 20 meters. I got 5 minutes of the buck feeding then the shot all on video. A dark 7 pointer, should make a silver medal. Mark. Quote Link to post
sauer 2
ok sorry to hijack the thread but its kinda relevant query for you guys still on subject o bad weather, after your stalk what products/oils/sprays etc do you guys use for drying/cleaning your rifle and how far do you go with cleaning if rifle been out in real downpour?? i usually drop the stalk and dry and lightly oil everything up sauer Quote Link to post
mj robson 8
I sit my rifle in a warm room for a while then spey with plenty of water repelling oil like WD40 to get any moisure out of all the corners. I then give the bolt a good clean and rub the barrel down. Heres the video of our stalk, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXA-LC9TvLc Mark. Quote Link to post

bavarianbrit 0
Hi, My experience and that of other hunter here in Germany is that after a heavy rain has stoped the roe will leave the woods, as there is still the noise of dripping water from the trees in the woods and they instinctivly cannot hear any danger signals of predators coming to them so they prefer open areas till it quietens down again in the woods. So this 2 hour window works well for me. Regards Bavarianbrit Quote Link to post
weejohn 3
7:06 it blinks lol that was a lovely buck , its nose moved first before it blinked though. it also opened its mouth about 7.30. i wish the rain wasnt so loud on the vid as i was really wanting to hear what you were saying.
