Peter Skellan 0
I have .223 on my FAC and own a Tikka T3. I've just seen a GSG-5 being used at my local range and I wondered if its possible to get them on my license. They are .22LR calibre and I think it would be great to get amongst the rabbits with one of these semi autos with 20 odd rounds... Whats the situation regarding semi auto .22LR's as far as FEO's are concerned? Couldn't find anything about it on the BASC website. If you haven't seen one there are several on Guntrader and they are an MP5 clone that look like this: http://www.guntrader.co.uk/?NewGunID=090730144252003 PS Edited August 17, 2009 by Peter Skellan Quote Link to post

AzMaN 0
guys down are raange use them, and similar for practical shooting. I personaly wouldnt take them out in the field though, a rifle or shotgun seen by most people as normal, but a sub-machine gun lookalike may get you a bit more interest from the local bill. just my opinion of course. lxx73 0
Not sure about rabbits but they're great fun at the range, although I am considering selling mine to fund a Benelli M2. Quote Link to post
Peter Skellan 0
Well, Silver Pigeon is great for when I'm on a paid for shoot. AYA 3 is good for giving to guests or taking out in the rain or on the back of the scrambler. Benelli M2 7+1 is great for killing game in great numbers and busting clays, the Tikka T3 kills foxes and other things at long range and is interesting as a target rifle on the shooting range. The GSG 5 would be mighty suited to clearing rabbits which are just a bit too far away for the shotguns but a wee bit overkill for the Tikka (at 80p a round). No need to be an SAS wannnabe. lxx73 0
A bolt action .22LR would be more favourable or a ruger 10 22 for accurately taking rabbits at longer range. Don't forget the GSG5 fires .22HV rounds which aren't the most accurate. Quote Link to post
Peter Skellan 0
A .223 Tikka T3 works at all ranges ta. The gsg5 would be for close in work. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
A Semi-Auto .22 that can only fire High Velocity rounds is A. going to limit you to ammunition choice and accuracy and B. you will not have the advantage of being able to fit a moderator and effectively "silence" the round. I don't see the point of owning a .22LR unless you can fire subsonics through a moderator as you are losing its main advantage, not scaring off other Rabbits so you can have multiple shots in one position. Seems you're quite set on it Quote Link to post

scarecrow243 24
if your looking for a 22 subsonic with a high capacity mag have a look at the calico 22lr its mag holds 100 rounds it does not like high velocity ammo ,the mag sits under the scope mount, the only bother is reloading the mag same port as ruger 10/22 Quote Link to post
Fatcontroller 0
Ok, GSG 5 will fire subs, I only fire sub's in mine. York Guns now do a mod for them which makes them as quiet as any other .22lr. On the range at 25m they are very good, great fun, pull the trigger as fast as you like, and on mine no jams. There is no reason why you could not use one for rabbit at normal .22lr ranges, ie out to 80m. I would think before taking the gun out if the public could see it, you could end up with the police on the land, it does look a bit mean. I have my own land, so for me it's not an issue. PS I'm not an SAS wannabe, but I was in the Cubs. Quote Link to post
lxx73 0
Tried subs in mine and it wouldn't cycle them, probably why GSG advise using HV rounds. Quote Link to post
