theinvisiblescarecrow 0
Same dilema when I applied for my FAC. I went for a CZ 452 in the end, had the barrel shortened, a timney trigger & a good Philipeano Simmons scope with BKL's, changed the scope to an MTC but now have got a Falcon to go on. I also now have a HMR, went for a CZ & got a trigger Kit. On top is a good Philipeano Simmons on BKL's. Think good scope then what rifle. Quote Link to post
cyclonebri1 8
Consider the Ruger 77/22 bolt action not semi. Had a bruno, now issues at all with it, but wanted a nicer gun. All weather Ruger fits the bill, now on my 2nd Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
I havent got a CZ mate. But yep I was on about the 10 shot , if youre going after rabbits its pointless having a 5 shot as you are forever reloading , much better having a mag holding more rounds. Mine is a Ruger , far superior quality .. NOT if you have 4 magas as i do when rabbit shooting, i also have 2 x 10 shots that i tape together so when one was out flip it round and away you go with 10 more, granted the 10 shot ones are a pain and i find they stick a lot (jamm up ) so best using 5 shot if you can get a few extra mags. my mate has a semi auto ruger, i think he uses far to much ammo as he gets over exited if he misses a bunny LOL i tend to walk on his left side when shooting if not you tend to get clobbered with emptys I think 'FH' has the 77/22 bolt action ... i know what you mean though about being a little trigger happy with the 10/22 ( i was when i had mine although it did come in handy on occasion ) In summary of my experiance with .22's that i've owned: CZ BRNO- Basic furniture but accurate and reliable. The only problem was the barrel length - it was like having a flag pole on your shoulder as the barrel was too long even before i put a mod on the end. Having said this i miss the gun. You can pick them up for a song and they do have models with shorter barrels. Ruger 10/22 - (Rimfire magic custom) If it wasn't for the back to back problems with the magazines i probably would have put up with the absolute fag of stripping the action every 50 rounds to stop the bugger jamming. Despite spending a fortune on the gun i wasn't impressed but appreciate that I was unlucky. CZ Varmint - Accurate but even with the 16" barrel it was heavy with the oversize barrell being unnecessary for the calibre. I now have a CZ 452 Silhouette which i'm not too precious about and shoots very well (not with CCI subs though it would seem ) the bolt is reasonably smooth and its very light. I've put a Rimfire Magic trigger kit in and its the best .22 i've had - i'm settled with it. In terms of rimmy mods i've had they are all much of a muchness with very little really between the most expensive and cheapest: Parker Hale, SAK: Good ASE Ultra: Better but heavier - think twice before stripping it down as well Wildcat Whisper: Best but expensive - not really worth the extra £ in terms of noise reduction but easier to strip and clean and is also a sleave over mod similar to the T8 & P8 centerfire mods. this is a good site to look what you can get for your money: www.guntrader.co.uk Edited August 19, 2009 by Local Quote Link to post

waidmann 105
cheers for the guntrader link, that was the trigger for this thread lots of rimfire around, and never had need of one ( apart from a .22 magum for crows, foxes and cats in germany) lots of good reviews for the cz. a mate has one and it shoots well and is very quiet( better than my spring air rifle!) there are some on guntrader fo under £200 as afull set up( the advantage being that i can test the gun and not find out later that it spreads like a 20 g at 70 yards! thanks for the tips, and all the best.
