mattydski 560
You will not go far wrong with a CZ .22lr. They are built to last, accurate enough for the task, and, maintain their value. Quote Link to post

Keep an eye out for a Sako, you may have to add a little more to the budget but probably the best rimfire made. Martin Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
The difference between a CZ and any other rimfire is neither here nor there in terms of accuracy. CZ are brilliant rifles and will outshoot the man behind it many times over. Quote Link to post

FOXHUNTER 5,021
CZs do the job shooting rabbits but I think they are very rough and ready. The bolt isnt very smooth at all and they have an awful safety catch which goes backwards to fire , dont know who thought that one up. Also the magazine sticks sharply into your back when carrying the rifle over your back. But I suppose you only get what you pay for . Quote Link to post

NOT with the 5 shot, you must have a 10 shot on yours Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,021
I havent got a CZ mate. But yep I was on about the 10 shot , if youre going after rabbits its pointless having a 5 shot as you are forever reloading , much better having a mag holding more rounds. Mine is a Ruger , far superior quality .. Quote Link to post

NOT if you have 4 magas as i do when rabbit shooting, i also have 2 x 10 shots that i tape together so when one was out flip it round and away you go with 10 more, granted the 10 shot ones are a pain and i find they stick a lot (jamm up ) so best using 5 shot if you can get a few extra mags. my mate has a semi auto ruger, i think he uses far to much ammo as he gets over exited if he misses a bunny LOL i tend to walk on his left side when shooting if not you tend to get clobbered with emptys Quote Link to post

waidmann 105
which amunition do you lads use ( with moderator) or try and test which shoots best with the rifle? have heard the cz needs the trigger assembly sorting( as a rule). what triggers are advisable? i know its each to his own with this sort of thing, the general consensus of opinion is what i'm after. thanks for the positive responses. andyf 144
I've had lots of CZ's, and they are hard to beat, the factory trigger is rubbish though, the Eric Brooks trigger spring and sear spacer kit sorts this out and for the £15 or so a must. I would advise you to leave Semi-autos well alone, I've had a few of them as well, the standard 10-22 Ruger and the Anshutz 525 are probably the best of the bunch, but at he end of the day they all miss-fire, jam and generally give you grief, when they are working the machine gun effect can make you feel good, but I didn't hit anything more, I just fired off loads more ammo, (try it if you must). These days I've settled on a SAKO Finnfire Varmint, I've shortened the barrel to 16,5" with a SAK moderator, and fitted an obscenely expensive Leupold scope, it will shoot a Rabbit in the eye at 100 yards with Winchester Subsonic, as long as I can hold it still enough at the blunt end, the trigger is the best factory unit I've ever tried. But in the £300 department a good used CZ will serve you well, it's the scope that makes the difference, I was told "spend your money on the scope, and the change on the rifle" this was right, cheapo' scopes are OK on chinese .177 airguns, but no good in the real world, it's your call! All the best. AF Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
its the firing of five shots at a rabbit that put me off the semi's. iv'e been out with a guy who shoots that style not sporting, the second and third shot can't be properly aimed can they? ( i was a bisley shot and can't aim properly like that!) the cz seems to be real popular and within budget. the theory to spend on the sight, i agree i used a mauser m98 in 30.06 for years and was very happy with it( new around 600euro). shot as well as the blaser and merkel of my mates( on game. on the range his groupings were better ) thanks for the info lads. never bought a.22 before, had a .22 magnum( 20 g shot under and over) and .22 hornet. tha sak mods are i think pretty good for the money so one of those too. ace32 4
as above, cant go wrong with a cz or brno,i have a 452 .22 style and a .22e,and they are both acurate as anything else out there, just get the right barrel length for the use,ie 16" is spot on for out the jeep, and get the right weight barrel,no good getting a heavy varmint barrel if you intend walking for miles, well thats my 2 penneth worth, oki doki, ian ps,cant go far wrong with win subs,ok Quote Link to post
