Mr Hunter 31
Just been for walk with pup to local technology park and he has just caught his first rabbit @ 12 weeks old.Was out this morning and a mixy rabbit in middle of field he chased it like he does my pet one but when it got too far in front he stopped. And i went to same place tonight and as pulled up a mixy rabbit was there but it hopped in bush and bout 5yards away was another mixy rabbit which too went in bush but 20 yards in field was another mixy rabbit.I walked right onto it and he just sniffed it but as soon as it set off he chased it and caught it then dropped it when it squeeled then it got another few yards and he caught it again and rabbit gave up.i let him mouth it for a bit then took it off him and walked away but after i got so far he ran back for rabbit and carried it back near me by its back leg.I got a few pics and the retrieve on video as proof as i bet a few will doubt me.I am very pleased needless to say Edited August 15, 2009 by Mr Hunter Quote Link to post

Mr Hunter 31
I knew some Bell end like you would comment on it.I dont talk shit like some on here and im not saying it s a good dog or whatever but it happened and thats on my kids lives. The rabbit had eyes closed and the size of golf balls and was oblivious to everything around it and also was skin and bone.it was not too hard to catch because i basically threw him on top of it and thats when it tried to hop off. and like i said he been chasing my pet rabbit all time so cant let that out now incase he bites it.Why dont you come here ill take you to place and you will see the place riddled with mixy and i reckon would catch another and maybe ill give you a slap for your lip! Mr Hunter 31
Im not bothered to be honest. All can talk over net but woudlnt say to face, FACT.Like i said i could of picked it up myself as it was well gone and was not hard to catch.I didnt intend to go out catching stuff @ that age as dont wanna spoil him i was just curious as to what he would do after chasing my pet rabbit all time and he done what i thought. He dropped it when squeeled then it only hopped a few yards then he grabbed it again but with rabbit being so weak it seemed to just give up and i am not saying he retrieved to hand it was when i made him leave it he ran back and picked it up and started to carry it to where i was stood.I have just been talking to a fella this morning and he said someone been over and feeding the rabbits up with corn and introducing mixy over there as they spend a lot on landscaping and rabbits are ruining it all.Belasis Technology park in Billingham if anyone wants to go check it out and see how easy it is too catch them Quote Link to post
LDR 29
I dont think he was doubting whether your 12 week old pup caught a myxi rabbit, more the fact that 12 weeks might be a tad young to be taking your dog out chasing quarry, there's a few theories that its not good for lungs, heart etc etc, bones haven't developed enough all that sort of thing............... ...............but its your dog mate and if you wanna run it at that age then thats down to you............... Mr Hunter 31
And like i said i never took it chasing quarry i was out for walk to normal place i take it when home as a change from my back field.I was just curious as to what he would do given a chance as easy as that.If i he comes across another ill just leave him to it as dont have him on lead but i wont be throwing him onto them like i did thats for sure i dont wanna ruin a good little pup. No probs mate, it just came across in your original post that you'd taken it out to that ground to run something as you knew they were there, good luck with the pup mate......... Quote Link to post
