Odd colours

Brim, I would rather be catching them fully grown as well, but they really needed thinning a bit. Not from a sporting perspective, they were ringbarking some small trees.

Ferret1- I'm prepared, flame proof underclothes and all  These ones had to be sorted. Have seen a black here as well though I never managed to get him out of any warren.

Melanistics occur in several species of wild animals. It's common in rabbits and occassionally in foxes. Badgers can be sandy, white and melanistic. Our Irish hares come white, pied, yellow and normal. There's a half white Jackdaw feeds on my bird table every morning.

Look at Fallow deer ? Several varieties there.

The main reason we don't see many wild white animals is because they're soon mopped up by the predators because they stick out like sore thumbs.

We often don't look close enough at the animals around us. Some anglers could look at a trout and tell you what river or lake it was caught in. To the rest of us it's just a fish.

Ask a good breeder of mules, hybrids or natives and ask him about the varieties in Greenfinches or Goldfinches. To most of us there just small birds.

Even Butterflies have localised varieties.

Fair enough Coney, sounds like a job rather than the sport mate.

The rabbits on our farm are nearly all a very pale ginger colour. Like they've been sitting out in the sun too long!

I'll have to get a picture up soon.

Also shot a blue one a couple years back, have a photo of that one too somewhere.
