thurso jack 3
my family are all fisherman, i used to go out on my uncles trawler in the summer, totally different ball game, in the summer i doubt there is a better job, calm seas and 100% craic, mind you i did sail up to the faroe islands in a 55 foot wooden trawler in march as i couldnt get a flight, needles to say i caught a plane home! D o the englxsh & welsh lads understand what they are saying or do they need to read the subtitles ? i doubt half the folk in scotland understand fully what they are saying. Stevie E 66
Very scary profession, my youngest brother worked on one from leaving school and he loved it hed get back in if the money was still there. One of his scariest moments was when the skipper thought he had a lot of fish under the boat through the finder so he swun the trawler round only to find it was a wreck of another boat! Over it they went nets snagging on the wreck and the back end of the boat being towed into the water at a fast rate(he said it was like the scene on jaws 1 )he shit himself and was hanging on for dear life he said, luckily the wires snapped before they get dragged down any further .Although it was long days he said the money just wasnt in it ,I take my hat of to the lads doing it full time ,with the state of the dwindling fish numbers ,fishing regulations being put in place all the time and the amount there allowed to catch each time it must be hard for the lads who put the time and effort in to make a decent living.
