my paterdale bitch is scratching all the time, starting losing her coat in some areas, have frontlined her but to no avail, somebody said she might have got some kind of skin mite as she as got no fleas. any advise would be appreciated. atb bullfinch.

it could be from the heat mate so her blood will be to hot.try some rock sulpher in its dish of water it helps cool them down

what food are you feeding her?too much protein in her diet can cause loss of coat through scratching,if not try excuse spelling benzal benzete?can be bought from chemist for human skin conditions hope this is usefull atb patterdale

My beddy has had such problems, after much research i found it could be -

 

Diet, especially the grain in dried food can cause a reaction or maybe too much protein.

If indoors shake n vac can cause problems.

Could be a grass allergy.

 

One thing i would say is don't bother with the vets they will just stitch you up and you will be no wiser of the problem, it's all about trial and error to find what's wrong.

 

For now use the rock sulphur in the water and 1/2 a piriton tablet in the morning and 1/2 at night.

Try feeding raw chicken and well boiled rice 60/40

You could also give these a call they are very helpful or just get info off there web site http://www.dorwest.com/

 

Results can take a month to show from diet change but the piriton should help for now.

Get some homeopathic Sulphur from a health food shop. Tip a couple of tablets directly into the dog's mouth (don't touch tabs with hands as it makes them lose their effectiveness: don't ask me why I don't know) Always works a treat on itchy dogs if all other causes have been eliminated.

Give piriton every 6 hours and wipe her down with a damp cloth all over even in between her toes after shes been outside and if its hayfever or an allergy to pollen etc this should help if not its something else

there is a shampoo called [seleen] its for the treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis in dogs i think this will help your dog...

thanks for the replys lads, i wouldnt say its her food, all the dogs are fed the same raw chicken mince and biscuit, the scratching has only started a couple of weeks ago and only affecting the bitch not the other dogs.

Allergies to food or anything else can effect any one dog and not the others, just one of those things.
