jonher 0
Hi, My brother is after a lamp to be used for night shooting rabbits and foxes and wants to spend no more than £100. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations? Is it advisable to get one which can be attached to the rifle? pro's / con's!?! Thanks Jonathan Quote Link to post
bobndog 0
I assume that you will be using a centre fire rifle as you mention foxes. The Lightforce 170 is all that you will need, £84.95 in the Deben catalogue that I have. Any light attached to a rifle will make it a very bulky item, it's easier with a lamper and a shooter. There are smaller lights, i.e. Atom and Max that come with scope fitting attachments, but they are not really powerful enough for spotting fox eyes at long distance. The 170 has a 600 metre beam, ample your purpose, adjustable focus, and light to carry. Have a look here; http://www.deben.com/lights_lamping/lightf..._held_lamps.php Quote Link to post

jonher 0
Thanks for the replies I'll pass the info on to my brother. Those Deben lamps look as if they run from the cigarette lighter in a vehicle, can you attach them to a battery for walking freely in the fields? Quote Link to post

The biggest problem that I have found with scope-mounted lamps is that when you lift the gun to your eye to shoot, the scope is not pointing where the gun is, it takes a very small knock to move it, especially when you are walking, climbing gates, jumping ditches etc. Edited August 10, 2009 by bobndog Quote Link to post
