A BIG SETBACK FOR CARA

Recommended Posts

a while back i noticed cara had a limp so i rested her up and all seemed fine ... a few days later tegan just brushed past her and the limp was back .... so i gave her a little longer off and gave her a course of anti inflamotarys .... all seemed ok then my mate chicky came up for the night with his pup and pups do what pups do and they played all night in the garden .... well the next morning the limp was back and it was worse ... i knew then this was no muscle pull and nthat something else was wrong so i had the missus walk her up and down for me and i had a good feel of her leg and i had some lateral movement in the kee ... i had a sneaky suspicion what was wrong but i was hoping i may be mistaken ... i booked her into simon gower the greyhound vet where my worst fears were confirmed cara had damaged her anterial cruciate ligament ... the upshot is that she can be only lead walked for the next 3 months .....

the 6 month to 9 month mark is important to me in my conditioning and training programme so i have to re think the whole process .......

the problem with only being able to lead walk ( apart from fitness and conditioning) is that the recall and the retrieve training suffers .... oh well time for a re think .................
