rushty 1
Hi Folks. just wonderin if any one can put me right. I got a lurcher, Grey/ Whipp x Bed/ Whipp when he was about 15months old. Was only told he needed rehoming for family problems. So we give him a home , which he has for life by the way. He gives tongue when chasing rabbits during the day and he gets out of breath very easily and lies down for rest regularly. I read somewhere that running pups to early can make them give mouth while chasing and think I heard that running them too hard too young can bugger their hearts, can anyone enlighten me, My dog is very fit so his breathlessness has nothing to do with being out of condition, anyone?? lofti 579
its warm now during the day and somtimes too hot for the dogs to run and not be out of breath so dont think there somthing wrong. i would wait till a couple of hours before dusk or just after dawn if you want to have a good run, it will be cooler then plus there will be more stuff about. then you will see, hope hes ok mate. lofti

skycat 6,173
Even at night in this weather it is far too warm to be runing a dog unless it can get in water every few moments. I've just come back from walking mine when it was almost dark: they ran a few rabbits and were panting like mad: its not just the heat, but its so humid at the moment as well: even my Saluki types are finding it too hot with this humidity.
