Big bald beautiful 1,231
Asked yesterday by a lad i see out with his whippet cross bitch, he wanted to but a 27"deerhound blooded dog over his 19" whippet cross. I didnt think it was a good idea but the guy is addiment it can be done with no harm to the bitch. i would either put something smaller over her or even better buy a bigger pup in. I saw him again today and the lad has asked a few different lads and a few still would go ahead with the maiting. So is it just me being over protective? Quote Link to post

dEs 6
yes but i wouldnt put a greyhound dog over a whippet bitch Can i ask why mate? If it's worries with the bitch pupping etc due to size then don't worry about that. A bitch grows her pups to her size on the inside... they do the growing on the outside. Not saying the bitch couldn't have problems pupping same as any bitch... but it wouldn't be due to the greyhound. Quote Link to post

chartpolski 24,851
In the "Whippet News" a few month ago, a Whippet bitch was put to a Greyhound dog. I may put my 23" bitch to a 27" dog next year; as long as you don't go to extremes, it should be ok . Cheers. Quote Link to post
lurcher lass 9
personally breeding big to small is fine! i wouldn't pop a large dog over a small bitch as her body needs to be able to deal with size of pups, i'd do a large bitch covered by small dog if you'd like big to small mating, having said that it can be fine, tis each to their own Quote Link to post
